Referral website, not the contractor. How it works
Foundation repair in Navasota covers the same jobs as in Bryan and College Station: slab repair, pier-and-beam repair, leveling and inspections. To get help, send a request with the form, and pick "Navasota" as your town.
Brazos Valley Foundation Repair is a referral website, not a foundation repair company. We send your request to one independent local foundation repair company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
We send Navasota requests to a local foundation repair company that serves the area, if it covers your address; pricing and scheduling come from that company. What's different in Navasota is the mix of old and new houses, the river-bottom ground, and the town's own permit office.
What's different about foundations in Navasota
An old railroad town. Navasota sits on a bend of the Navasota River in southeastern Grimes County, at State Highway 105, according to the Texas State Historical Association. The Houston and Texas Central Railway reached it in 1859, the town incorporated in 1866, and by 1930 it had more than 5,000 people. In 1980 it was one of five Texas cities picked for the National Main Street program to revitalize its downtown. A town that old has houses from many eras, so find out whether yours sits on a slab or on piers and beams before you ask for prices.
Growing again. The Census Bureau estimates Navasota grew from about 7,650 residents in April 2020 to about 9,900 in July 2025, roughly 29 percent. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey counts about 2,970 housing units, about 60 percent of them owner-occupied, with a median owner-occupied home value of about $208,100.
River-bottom and upland soils. TSHA describes Grimes County's upland soils as gray sandy loams over clayey subsoils, and its bottomland soils, along the rivers and principal creeks, as dark, loamy to clayey alluvium. Clay subsoils shrink in drought and swell when wet, which is what moves foundations. Our guide to Brazos Valley clay soils and your foundation explains the drainage and watering steps that help.
Floodplain maps. FEMA revised Navasota's Flood Insurance Rate Maps on August 13, 2009. The city's floodplain administrator can help you find out whether your parcel is in the 100-year floodplain; the maps can be reviewed at City Hall, 200 E. McAlpine St. Residents outside city limits should call Grimes County at (936) 873-3135.
Navasota's own permit office. Navasota runs building permits and inspections through its Development Services Department and a Citizenserve online portal, with its own building official and building inspector. We didn't find a Navasota rule that addresses foundation repair specifically, so ask the city whether your job needs a permit: Development Services, (936) 825-6475.

Before you get in touch
- Check for crawlspace vents or an access door to tell whether the house is pier and beam.
- Note whether your lot is near the river or a creek, and whether water stands near the house after rain.
- Take dated photos of cracks and sloping floors.
- If you're buying, ask the seller about past foundation work and any permit or engineer's letter.

Common questions
Do I need a city permit for foundation repair in Navasota?
Ask the city before work starts. Navasota handles building permits through its Development Services Department and an online Citizenserve portal, and it has its own building official and inspector. Call Development Services at (936) 825-6475, or email [email protected]. If you live outside city limits, ask Grimes County.
My house is near the river. Does that matter for a foundation repair?
It can. Bottomland soils in Grimes County are loamy to clayey alluvium, and parts of Navasota are mapped in FEMA's flood zones. City staff can tell you whether your parcel is in the 100-year floodplain. Mention it when you describe the job, and ask the city whether floodplain rules apply to your repair.
Will a company come out from Bryan or College Station?
We send Navasota requests to a local foundation repair company that serves the area, if it covers Navasota. Ask whether there's a trip fee, and how scheduling works for your address.
